Prune
Pros: Unique puzzle mechanic, premium game, pruning feels smooth.
Cons: Slow pacing, repetitive, not much depth to gameplay, low framerate.
This is a tough one. You prune the branches that come out to redirect the growth of the tree to avoid certain things or touch other things. It’s a novel idea and executed fairly well but the game ended up boring me. The tree also grows way too slowly.
I appreciate the drive for minimalism but you can achieve the same, or an even better result, by implementing typography into the game. To me it just feels lazy instead of minimalist to have zero lore or exposition. I also found the colors in some levels way too dark and lacking in contrast.
The framerate also seems to be locked to 30 which really bothers me, even on a slow paced game like this. It is a 10 year old game that’s still intersting but I don’t think it’s worth the $5 price tag. Sadly not recommended.
